Submitting a Multi-File Assignment

Overview

Students can submit multiple files into a single assignment by pulling files from their Google Drive, Inserting files, etc., and embedding them into the Rich Content Editor textbox. This article will primarily be used for submitting multiple files through Google Drive.

If you wish to submit files directly from your computer (not from Google Drive).  Choose Insert at the top of the Rich Content Editor and then choose the appropriate item (Document, Media, Image, etc.).

Instructions

Prerequisite: You will need to have a basic understanding of how to upload and access your content in Google Drive to be able to successfully complete this type of assignment. If you don't know how to do this, please see the article: Uploading files to Google Drive. For more general information on Google Drive, please also see Getting Comfortable with Google Drive

Helpful Hints:

  • If you are submitting larger videos over 500 MB, do not wait until the last minute to submit the Assignment. Google will need time to "process" the videos so that they can be viewed by your Instructor(s).
  • If you notice that this type of assignment becomes a regular occurrence, it may be helpful to create a folder in Google Drive and store all the content for the course in that folder so that it can easily be accessed when embedding the files into the assignment.
  • At the end of the semester; make sure to delete files and folders in your Google Drive that you don't use to free up storage.

Step 1: Navigate to the Assignment and choose the "power plug" icon
Step 2: Select Google Apps

Step 3: Select the first file you want to add to the submission (only one file can be added at a time)
Step 4:  Press the blue Select button

Step 5: Press the green Embed button

Step 6: Make sure the cursor is at the bottom right of your first embedded file
Step 7: Press Enter

Step 8: Choose the "Power Plug" icon again (you will repeat this process for every file that is to be submitted as part of the assignment).
Step 9: Select Google Apps

Step 10: Select the second item you wish to embed
Step 11: Press the blue Select button

Step 12: Press the Green Embed button

Repeat the process as many times as needed

Step 13: When finished embedding items into the Text Box, press the blue Submit Assignment button
