Overview
ITS wants to make sure you feel confident about your options for hosting virtual meetings and classes. We have three fully supported tools available:
- Microsoft Teams Meetings
- Google Meet
- Kaltura Rooms (available for instructors inside Canvas)
How Do You Decide Which One to Use?
All three tools are supported. The key is choosing the one that aligns best with your needs.
Microsoft Teams may be a better fit if you:
- Already use Teams regularly for meetings
- Can work in Google Calendar to set up meetings
- Want to collaborate with colleagues or external guests
- Need to record the meeting
Google Meet may be a better fit if you:
- Already use Meet regularly for meetings
- Want to work completely within the Google Workspace environment
- Want to collaborate with colleagues or external guests
- Don't need to record the meeting
Kaltura Virtual Classroom is a great fit if you:
- Want your live sessions embedded directly in your Canvas course
- Prefer recordings to automatically save to the course
- Run recurring class meetings with enrolled students
- Want students to access sessions without separate links
