Accessing a Delegated Email Account

Overview

In certain situations, you may be granted delegated access to an account that is not yours. Delegated access will allow you to read, respond, and organize the inbox of the separate email account. You will log into your AU Gmail account to access the delegated account.

Limitations of a Delegated Account:

  • Delegation is for email only. Apps like Calendar and Drive will need to be shared within the individual apps.
  • Delegated accounts can only be accessed via a web browser. You will not be able to access a delegated account using an app on your mobile device.

Getting Delegated Access

ITS grants delegated access to email accounts. To request access to an account, please submit a Raven Solutions request. ITS verifies the permission for delegates with the supervisor within the relevant department.

Accessing a Delegated Account

  1. Log in to your AU email within a browser.
  2. Click on your Raven Mail icon in the top right corner.
  3. The delegated account will now be on your account list. Click on the delegated account to open the account's inbox.

By default, all delegated accounts are set to:

  • When reviewing the inbox, it will mark conversation as read when opened by others
  • When sending an email from the account, show the delegated address and the person who sent it ("sent by …")
