Overview
REPORTING COVID-19 EXPOSURES
Generally speaking, you need to have been in close contact* with someone who has COVID-19 to become infected. *Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of someone with COVID-19 for 15 minutes or longer, even if masked, or if you’ve shared utensils or been coughed or sneezed on by a person who has been confirmed to have COVID-19. If you believe that you have been exposed (for instance, if the close contact reports a positive COVID-19 test or a presumptive positive diagnosis from a health care provider) follow these guidelines:
Who does NOT have to Quarantine following exposure:
- Individuals who are up-to-date on vaccinations do not need to quarantine if they remain asymptomatic.
- Up-to-date is considered to be a primary vaccine series PLUS a booster, if eligible
- Someone who has had COVID-19 within the prior 90 days does not need to quarantine if they stay asymptomatic.
Who DOES have to Quarantine following exposure
- Individuals who were exposed to COVID-19 and are NOT up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations
- Stay home and quarantine for at least 5 full days
- Get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19
- Return on days 6-10 if
- you have no symptoms of COVID-19
- you submit a negative test through Raven Solutions case management system
- you are willing to carefully mask with a tight-fitting surgical or N95 (or equivalent) mask
All individuals exposed to COVID-19 should watch for symptoms until 10 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19. If you develop symptoms, isolate immediately and get tested. Continue isolation until test results are known and symptoms are resolved.
Calculation of Isolation & Quarantine:
- Day Zero of isolation is either the day of specimen collection or the first day symptoms began, whichever came first.
- Day Zero of quarantine is the last day of exposure to the positive case
