Creating an Assignment that lets students use Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.

Google Assignments LTI 1.3 is the solution for instructors who receive a Google related assignment submission that may have one several error messages relating to not being able to access the file due to incorrect sharing permissions on the student side. Google Assignments LTI 1.3 correctly applies all of the sharing permissions so you can view the assignment within SpeedGrader.

Overview

Google Assignments LTI 1.3 modern way for students to submit submit assignments from their Google Drive. Students can submit, Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc. and anything students submit can be viewed using this method within the Canvas SpeedGrader. 

Instructions

Step 1: Create an Assignment (add a Title, Description, Point Value, Due Date and any relevant content)..
Step 2: At Submission Type, Choose "Online" and only check the box that is labelled File Uploads.

Step 3: Set a Due date and Availability dates if desired.

Step 4: Press the Blue Save button in the bottom right corner when finished (or Save & Publish if you are ready for the assignment to go live). 


Step 5: Instruct students to use Google Assignments LTI 1.3 to upload any Google Related Submission type. 

*Note: Instructors will not be able to see this button (only students will be able to see it). If you wish to see it, use "Student View" and view the assignment (assuming it's published & available.
