Overview
Instructors can add sections to a course by editing your course Settings in Canvas. Sections help subdivide students within a course and offer section-specific options such as varied due dates for assignments, discussions, and quizzes. Sections also display for each student within the course People page and the Gradebook.
The IRC recommends using sections if your classroom capacity does not allow for all students to meet at the same time. For example, you may need to divide students into a group that physically meets on Tuesday and a group that physically meets on Thursday. (When students aren't physically in the classroom, you can use Kaltura Virtual Classroom for them to view what's going on in the physical classroom.)
