At AU, Microsoft services are accessed using Okta single sign-on (SSO). You will log in with your institutional credentials through Okta.

Please Note: AU does not currently use Outlook for our email or calendaring, so we are unable to use the integrated email and calendar options in Microsoft. Some online help may refer to Outlook, but unfortunately, these options are not available to us yet. We recommend scheduling Teams Meetings using the Google Calendar Add-On intead of the Teams app.

Instructions

Sign in to Microsoft Teams (in a Browser)

  1. Go to https://www.office.com (or click on the Office 365 tile
  2. Click Sign in.
  3. Enter your institutional email address.
  4. When redirected, sign in through Okta using your institutional credentials.
  5. Select Teams from the Microsoft 365 app launcher (waffle icon) or go directly to https://teams.microsoft.com

Access Microsoft Teams Using the Desktop App

Using the desktop application provides the most reliable experience and access to full meeting features.

  1. Go to https://www.office.com and sign in using your institutional email address.
  2. When redirected, sign in through Okta using your institutional credentials.
  3. From the Microsoft 365 app launcher, select Teams.
  4. In the web version of Teams, click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
  5. Select Download the desktop app (if it is not already installed).
  6. Open the downloaded installer and follow the prompts to complete installation.
  7. Launch the Microsoft Teams desktop app.
  8. Sign in with your institutional email address and authenticate through Okta when prompted.
  9. Once signed in, you can join meetings directly from the desktop app.

The app will also be available to launch when you click on meeting links in your calendar or email.

Schedule a Teams Meeting in Google Calendar

Since AU doesn't have Outlook, you will need to schedule a Microsoft Teams meeting using the Teams add-on.

  1. Go to https://calendar.google.com
  2. Click Create in the top-left corner.
  3. Enter the meeting title, date, and time.
  4. Click Add conferencing.
  5. Select Microsoft Teams meeting from the list of conferencing options.
  6. Add guests in the Add guests field.
  7. Click Save, then select Send to email the invitation.
  8. The Microsoft Teams meeting link will automatically be included in the calendar invitation.

If prompted, sign in with your institutional Microsoft account and authenticate through Okta to authorize the Teams add-on.

Start an Instant Meeting in Teams

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.
  2. Select Calendar from the left menu.
  3. Click Meet now.
  4. Enter a meeting name (optional).
  5. Click Join now.
  6. Share the meeting link with participants.

  1. From a calendar invite, click the Join Microsoft Teams Meeting link in the invitation.
