Best Practices for Zoom Shared Accounts

 Overview  

Anderson University by default gives every user a Basic Zoom account. This limits meetings to 40 minutes when there are 3 or more participants, and limited to 100 participants per meeting. Utilizing your departmental Licensed Zoom account allows for unlimited meeting time and up to 300 participants per meeting. Please read the guidelines below to ensure your meetings are scheduled and started successfully. 

Signing Out of a Personal Account     

In order to schedule a meeting on a departmental account, first ensure that you are signed out of your personal Zoom account on your computer, including the Zoom desktop client.

  1. Sign out of Zoom in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge by doing the following:
    1. Type anderson.zoom.us in your web browser.
    2. Click "Sign In".
    3. If you are automatically directed to your Zoom homepage, click the icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. This will give you an option to log out.
    4. Click "Log Out".
  2. Sign out of the Zoom Desktop Client:
    1. ​​​​​​Double-click the Zoom application on your desktop. This will open the Zoom Desktop Client.
    2. In the upper right-hand corner of the window, click the icon with your initials or profile picture. This will give you an option to log out.
    3. Click "Log Out". 

 

Logging in to Licensed Departmental Accounts  

To log in to your departmental account, type anderson.zoom.us in your web browser, then follow the directions below.

  1. Click "Sign In".
  2. Enter in your departmental Zoom account information and click "Sign In".
  3. Zoom may ask you to continue with a Google account. If so, be sure to use the departmental Zoom account email and password. 
  4. To verify that you are logged in as the licensed departmental account, click on the icon in the upper right-hand corner. It should display your departmental email.
  5. You may now schedule and host meetings with your licensed departmental account.

To sign back into your personal Zoom account, follow the same sign out procedure listed above, this time signing out of the departmental account, then logging back in with your personal account. It should be noted that departmental accounts cannot be linked to a Canvas course.
